frequently asked questions
There is some spice in the biscuits from the dehydrated jalapeños, but overall the dish has a low to medium spice level. If sharing with someone sensitive to spice, the jalapeños can be picked out of the cooked biscuit if needed. The Gravy is peppery, but not spicy.
Your package will make three biscuits about 3 inches in diameter and enough gravy to top all biscuits (6oz gravy).
If eating the biscuits as a side dish, you can divide the dough into 4 biscuits.
For best results when using Packit Gourmet's Skillet-Bake technique, we recommend using a Heat Diffuser under your skillet to prevent scorching the biscuits. This is especially true if using lightweight cookware on strong direct heat such as a JetBoil.
If you do not take a diffuser, folded aluminum foil can help diffuse the heat as well.
A sturdy heat-tolerant spatula is helpful for a smooth exit from the pan.
If you'd prefer to ditch your skillet lid, you can also create a dome lid using aluminum foil. If doing this, ensure the aluminum is all the way around the top of the skillet, so an oven-like environment is created for baking.

Another masterpiece from Packit Gourmet! Absolutely delicious with the right amount of spice. Better than some restaurants. Loved it so much, we eat it at home and not just on the trail!
-
Terrific Breakfast! Not a quick bug-out breakfast, but definitely worth the time if you have an easy day on the trail. This breakfast will be in my pack from now on.

These were so good! I made my dough a little too soft and ended up having a thick pancake, but the flavor was great. The gravy was impressive. Definitely on my list to bring again.

When your out on the trail for several days you crave the taste and texture of a biscuit this hits the spot. Along with the sausage gravy...yum, yum. If your using a backpacking stove or an alcohol stove the trick is low heat otherwise you will burn them. I used a wood burning solo stove, letting the coals burn down to a low simmer. Baked in a titanium pan and plate as a cover they came out perfect. Excellent.

These are very good, the gravy with the sausage crumbles was very good. Would buy this again *This review was submitted for the previously available Skillet Buttermilk Biscuits. This was the base recipe for the Cheddar Jalapeno Biscuits and the Gravy recipe has remained the same.

These were surprisingly easy to cook and were ridiculously good. The oatmeal eaters at camp were super jealous when they saw me eating these.
