Packit Gourmet makes an insane variety of foods, from cold-water-prep lunches to sharable appetizers (trailside queso, anyone?). It has some inventive dinner options, but we like the Big’Un Burrito with Fajita Chicken because it’s laden with chicken, black beans, and rice and cooks in the bag. Bring your own tortillas and you’ve got a burrito to go. There’s even a sachet of Cholula hot sauce in the package.

This was one of the first entrees we tested on our annual Editors' Choice trip, and it set the bar - high. Stuffed with black beans, brown rice, veggies and cheese, "the Big'un is filling and tastes like something you'd make fresh at home," one tester says.

We recommend that all of our hot meals spend time "steep-cooking™" while snuggled in a Cook-in-Cozy™. We find this method promotes a more consistent temperature and steady cook time for Cook-in-Bag™ preparation; and results in a better serving temperature for your meal. When not in use, our Cook-in-Cozy™ folds away nicely in your pack for storage and weighs in at only 1.4oz.

Used three of these meals on recent Isle Royale Thru hike three people. September 2024! One meal packet/ bag was more then enough to fill up three good size flour burrito shells for three of us per bag. Awesome reviews from my hiking partners- I just reordered another batch for the next hike. I would and will recommend this to other hikers . Very impressed! Filling, great favor plus I choice the added spice add on’s also.

This was my FIRST Packit Gourmet meal to try and I loved it! I'm an avid thru-hiker and backpacker and have had MANY MANY meals on the trail. This is the first with Texas flair and authentic Mexican flavor - so good! Love all the options they have (like these you bring your own tortillas, others you can choose little extras if you want like hot sauce, others you can make by cold-soaking). Can't wait to try all the others I got!! PCT hike begins May 15th! Woot!
