- Insider Tips:
- A skillet-toasted Pizza Margherita really takes this meal to the next level! To make: Fill a tortilla with your Pizza Margherita and toast prepared pizza rolls or half-moon quesadillas until golden brown. Toast on a bare pan or fry with a packet of olive oil for a crunchy exterior. Mama Mia what a difference!
- This meal contains freeze-dried cheese which (1) is really delicious and (2) stays in its shredded form once rehydrated and heated, rather than melting the way that fresh cheeses do.
- Cool water works just fine for this meal! Allow to steep-cook for 20 minutes — when the cheese is tender, it's ready!

This pizza-inspired meal - not exactly a slice, not exactly a wrap, and not exactly a quesadilla - was a hit with testers who described it as a "lip-smacking way to finish a long day." The pizza-wrap's main attraction is a gooey mozzarella spread spiked with hints of basil, slices of black olives and chunks of tomato that preps with cold water and folds into a (BYO) tortilla. "The flavors are distinct and, while it's tasty cold, I loved this meal hot, melted-quesadilla style," says one tester who reports that a single serving with 24 grams of fat and 58 grams of protein, is enough for a late-night snack for two hungry hikers. Tip: Freeze-dried cheese won't melt unless completely rehydrated. Add a splash of water if there's an iota of crunch.

We recommend that all of our hot meals spend time "steep-cooking™" while snuggled in a Cook-in-Cozy™. We find this method promotes a more consistent temperature and steady cook time for Cook-in-Bag™ preparation; and results in a better serving temperature for your meal. When not in use, our Cook-in-Cozy™ folds away nicely in your pack for storage and weighs in at only 1.4oz.

Surprisingly good! Wasn’t sure what to expect, but the flavor is there! Salty- a bit, but I like salt so…

Best food ever! No joke - really amazing!

Works better with closer to 3+ oz of water (for me) and it's strong on the pesto but it's still pretty good for what it is.

I think I needed to add a little more water than what it said on the package because it came out too clumpy. It was overly salty too. But the other spices were tasty. I also wrapped this like a burrito, but I'll try eating it like a quesadilla next time.

Wow! The easiest prep, small amount of water, and the smell and taste! You have to bring that tortilla - amazing!

I dont think I'll ever go slumming it with mountain house again (unless it's a slumming it kinda day..lol). This is so awesome! I do add boiling water and a bit more than they instruct, but DAMN! It's so yumms in a flour tortilla.. and it travels well if I cant finish it till later... love this newly discovered company!!!!!!

I received this in a food box from Garage Grown Gear. It's the only meal I'd purchase again. On my last hike, access to water was always an issue; I loved that this mean required so little water. (Another meal I received required 800ml to make. I like to dry camp, and I don't like carrying a lot of extra water. 75ml? PERFECT!) I found it too salty, but it was delicious. I'd add more olive oil if I were to make it again.

Pizza on the trail. That’s right. I agree, it is an overwhelming concept that we could enjoy warm and zesty pizza outdoors- we’ve all had a year of learning to appreciate the little things, and this dream concoction is no exception. This was one of my favorite dehydrated meals this year- so much so that I blogged about it! Check out my list of top 5 here outdoors-explored.com/2020/12/24/the-top-5-dehydrated-meals-of-2020/

This was very tasty, great spices. This is ALL cheese with spices. Like others said, it kinda clumped up and I had to cut chunks to put into the tortilla then ate it like a burrito. It was cold outside and it clumped up very quickly as we made our servings. I may add a bit more water next time and try harder to keep it warm. I think if you were to make it like the picture and grill it in a tortilla, it would work well. I will buy it again.
