This meal has a really good flavor and it’s just something a little different — I mean, who eats something like this on trail?

— Homemade Wanderlust: My 5 Favorite Backpacking Meals, YouTube Video, January 2019

A very easy meal indeed – one pot style and doesn’t need a lot of water... Nice mild spicy hint underneath and very creamy.

frequently asked questions

What is Gluten Conscious?

Gluten Conscious is a term we use to describe a product that is prepared with gluten free ingredients; however, it is not prepared in a gluten-free environment. While we are careful to avoid cross-contamination, it is possible that trace amounts of gluten may be present due to the use of gluten in our facility.
Why is a Cook–in–Cozy™ recommended?

We recommend that all of our hot meals spend time "steep-cooking" while snuggled in a Cook-in-Cozy. We find this method promotes a more consistent temperature and steady cook time for Cook-in-Bag preparation; and results in a better serving temperature for your meal. When not in use, our Cook-in-Cozy folds away nicely in your pack for storage and weighs in at only 1.4oz.

I actually drove all the way home, instead of the trailhead, when this was delivered and I am so happy I did. I only had this on two trips, but each time I was more than satisfied. I used it for dinner, so I had other appetizers as well. It could be paired with any other meal easily. It is just perfect. Great flavor and easy on my tummy. I have heard great things about other meals, so I can't wait to try more.

For years I have eaten hot granola or oatmeal to get my day started on the trail. I was so pleased with the taste of the meal and my friends on the trip were jealous to say the least! Welcome to the morning line-up Polenta w/Pork Sausage!

I'm an omnivore who does not have a particularly fussy palette or digestive system and I've tried A LOT of dehydrated meals. Some have been inedible (flavor wise). Others have been tolerable (flavor wise) but give me issue with complete rehydration which results in my system not tolerating them very well. But THIS meal was an instant FAVORITE. Not only did it hydrate fully in to a pleasant creamy treat.....but the flavors were terrific. The polenta was smooth with just the right touch of spice and a few cheesy bits and the sausage bits hydrated perfectly and came through like surprise treats in every other bite. Normally I'm happy to simply like a meal enough to get it down. This is one of the only meals that left me disappointed when the pouch was empty. And NO stomach or digestion trouble!! Other meals from other companies often leave me feeling like there's either a stone in my stomach or a wheelbarrow of roughage passing through my system. No such issues with this one. Just good creamy texture, great flavor, and easily accessed calories on the trail. This is 100% a go to favorite for backcountry breakfasts on our list now.

We loved it! Simple to make and tastes great. Even if you're not crazy about how it tastes out of the gate, great starter and add your our seasonings. Wife and I liked it as is. Great for a quick meal in the morning before you head out. Worked great while RVing and I can see ourselves using it while tent camping.

This meal has a really good flavor and it’s just something a little different — I mean, who eats something like this on trail?
