Prep for this creamy, savory, Southern-style comfort food is as easy as it gets: Boil water, add to bag, stir and let sit for 10 minutes. Testers loved the well defined jalapeno and corn flavors, fluffy texture and mild tang provided by a blend of cheddar jack cheeses. Eat these grits as a breakfast cereal or, as one tester suggested, "as filling for a jerky-stuffed burrito."

We recommend that all of our hot meals spend time "steep-cooking™" while snuggled in a Cook-in-Cozy™. We find this method promotes a more consistent temperature and steady cook time for Cook-in-Bag™ preparation; and results in a better serving temperature for your meal. When not in use, our Cook-in-Cozy™ folds away nicely in your pack for storage and weighs in at only 1.4oz.

Restaurants aren’t typically an option for me while traveling due to food issues, and one can only eat so much instant oatmeal. I bought this so I could enjoy something savory in the morning while traveling. It’s (all) a bit expensive, but the portion size is so generous and the meal so filling that the single packet became two breakfasts. I was worried about seasoning—some camping food is way too salty and lacking in other flavors—but this had a good balance of saltiness and creaminess and pepperiness. Overall, it was very nice and I would buy it again.

I had low expectations since I'm not a huge fan of grits but wanted to add a little variety for the trail. I was pleasantly surprised and even scraped every last bit from the bag. This will definitely be on the menu for my next trek.

This was the first packit meal I tried. Great consistency and taste. Loved it enough to try other packit meals.

Love the grits. Usually have for dinner since we like to be up and away in the morning. Only suggestion is to add some jalapeno and hot sauce options. Thanks for truly great meals.

Best tasting camp food by far…unfortunately I’m not sure I could cook something better myself. This will work for any meal of the day.
-
By far, the best backpacking breakfast I have had. It is tasty, filling, and just awesome. Sometimes I add some bacon for an extra kick. It makes mornings. or evenings, so much better.

This is the best backpacking meal I have ever had. I ate it 4 nights recently and added hemp seeds to it for a bit of extra protein. The taste and quality of the meal are so high. I really appreciate having this as an option.
