This hearty, pepper-flecked soup won tester praise for bringing gourmet-style chowder to the trail: "The creamy richness, tongue-tingling poblano and slight sweetness of the firm corm kernels made this my favorite cool-evening appetizer," says one. With just 300 calories and 11 grams of fat, it's also a great meal for hikers looking to eat healthy without sacrificing flavor, or as an hors d'oeuvre compliment to Southwestern - or meat and potatoes - style entrees.

One of my go-to selections every year. Can't beat it.

This is my favorite meal out on the trail. The flavor and texture is a wonderful change from all the other foods.

Definitely a top notch meal. I tried this past kayaking trip and it was so good. I added the water and the. Put in my boat, paddled a mile and then ate it. So good. It was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks PG for keeping flavor in the woods.

Cons: It's very sweet from the corn. I don't like to see the words "partially hydrogenated...oil" in the ingredient list. Pros: It's very tasty and satisfying. Overall: I can deal with the sweet. It actually balances with the hot nicely. Thought the USDA banned partially hydrogenated vegetable oils (otherwise known as trans fat), except for emergency rations. Many natural versions of palm and coconut oils work just as well. As far as the flavor, it's wonderful. Sweet and spicy. Staff reply Thank you so much for leaving a review and we’re glad to hear you enjoyed the flavor! Since you’ve last purchased our Poblano Corn Chowder (it looks like July 2018?), we no longer have partially hydrogenated vegetable oil is this product. This is an all-natural meal!

Delicious! Lots of flavor and enjoyed the corn texture as well. Will definitely buy again.

Really not that good. Certainly not worth the price. I’d go so far as to say it’s a bit bland. It does have some mild heat to it, but overall the flavor is pretty flat. I ordered a few of these because it sounded great, but it’s not. Now I’m left wondering what to do with the three I have left. I don’t want to pack them into the wilderness and there’s no reason to eat this at home. Disappointing considering the quality of many of their other items.

It is cold outside right now...20's. Just ate this corn chowder and it hit the spot! Lots of corn and just the right little tingle from the poblano and spices...I think you could really play with this with milk instead of water, maybe some cheese...but on a cold day in the wind this was spot on!

Excellent meal! I loved the sweet corn. Tasted like fresh corn off the cob. Very satisfying and a great change of pace from everyday backpacking meals. A new favorite!
