Break from the uninspired trail meal and reach for this modern twist on chicken salad. "I loved the big, juicy hunks of meat with peas and currants, seasoned with mango and fragrant curry powder," says one tester, who rehydrated this cold-water-prep wrap on-trail in Washington's Wenatchee Mountains. "I stopped for one minute to add water to the bag so it would rehydrate while I hiked. Twenty minutes later, I sat down for a gourmet lunch." Mix in the included packet of ranch dressing to add creaminess - and an extra 11 grams of fat per serving. Great for chilly weather. BYO bread or tortilla.

This was my very first Pack it Gourmet meal following a recommendation from a friend. While it was definitely tasty,, it was EXTREMELY messy. I added the amount of water in the instructions, but it was nearly impossible to pour any of the contents onto my tortilla without making a huge mess as it was soooo runny. Not a great first experience while in a remote campground with limited water, cleaning supplies and an expectation to pack out my trash.

Wow! Who brought the fresh chicken salad to the boundary waters? I DID! This chicken salad was amazing! It seriously has the flavor and texture of fresh chicken salad. I would keep this at home for a meal, or in the office. I’m buying this again!

The Packit Gourmet Texas Mesquite Chicken Salad Backpacking Meal is a delicious and easy-to-prepare meal that is perfect for a day on the trail. The chicken salad is made with cage-free chicken that is smoked over mesquite wood, giving it a smoky flavor that is both savory and sweet. The chicken salad is also mixed with fresh onions, peppers, celery, and tart apple, which adds a touch of sweetness and crunch. The salad is then dressed with creamy mayonnaise, which helps to bind all of the ingredients together. The Packit Gourmet Texas Mesquite Chicken Salad Backpacking Meal is easy to prepare. Simply add cold water to the pouch, seal it, and shake it to mix. The meal is then ready to eat in minutes. The meal is also lightweight and compact, making it easy to pack for a day hike or backpacking trip. Smell is absolutely fantastic! I love cold soaking my lunches. They are fantastic. Gives a much needed protein punch to my trail. I’ve tried quite a few of these cold soak lunch options and I think this one is my favorite. Great on tortillas or on Triscuits

Delicious! Different than a lot of lunches. Miles better than a tuna or chicken packet. Good portion size. Rehydrated perfectly! Loved this on Black Pepper Triscuits!

This is one of my all time favorite freeze dried meals and is one of my regular “go-to” meals. I enjoy it with spinach tortilla / wraps. I especially appreciate the cool water option.
