Sure, beef Bolognese may sound kind of basic, but the flavors are deep and miles ahead of what most other backpacking companies are making. You need a pot to boil the pasta for this dish, but everything else is easy to prepare. There’s an upside: With just-add-water pasta, the manufacturer decides how al dente you want it—and often it’s not toothsome enough for my liking. With this method, I can control my pasta chew.

frequently asked questions
We recommend that all of our hot meals spend time "steep-cooking™" while snuggled in a Cook-in-Cozy™. We find this method promotes a more consistent temperature and steady cook time for Cook-in-Bag™ preparation; and results in a better serving temperature for your meal. When not in use, our Cook-in-Cozy™ folds away nicely in your pack for storage and weighs in at only 1.4oz.
We recommend a minimum size pot of one quart.

I forgot to eat a few of these and they were 6 months past their best by date when I did. Not a problem. They tasted amazing. So far I have not had any issues with the food not reconstituting properly nor being too salty or under seasoned in my opinion. I'll be getting another one.

Great flavor and filling. Like this for the special dinner treat on long treks when need the calories. Another great offering fro Pack It Gourmet

Yum! Love this one. Yes, it's a little bulkier than others, but worth it if you've got the room. One of my favorites.
-
Decent meal, but not great. One of their heavier meals weight-wise. Given the high weight/nutrient ratio and the average flavor, I don’t think I’ll buy this again.
-
MY NEW FAVORITE! I can't say enough about the flavor. Super easy to make, but oh lordy is it amazing. I'll be taking this with me on every trip. Buying more right now!
-
Had this on a one night trip. Couldn't get over the great flavor. Very satisfying will order again.

Prep was a little more involved that I originally thought. If you are tight on water, especially in desert conditions, this pack uses a decent amount of water. Other than that concern, the whole dish rehydrated really well. Words can't explain the flood of amazing.
